France, Britain, and 40 nations review military plans to reopen Strait of Hormuz

KABUL: Defense Ministers from the United Kingdom, France, and 40 other countries are expected to hold a multinational meeting on Tuesday to review military plans aimed at restoring trade flow through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports by Agence France-Presse, the meeting will include defense ministers from 40 countries and is likely to be held virtually.
The talks come after Iran recently warned that its military would target French and British forces if they were deployed in the Strait of Hormuz.
John Healey, Britain’s defense secretary, said the participating countries are working to turn diplomatic agreements into practical military plans aimed at restoring confidence in maritime traffic through the strategic waterway.
The continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz has severely affected global trade and international oil markets.
Business magazine Fortune reported on Sunday that European jet fuel reserves could reach critical levels by next month.
