Five Pakistani soldiers, including a major, killed in Balochistan attack

KABUL: Pakistan’s military says five soldiers, including a major, were killed in attacks by armed militants in two separate areas of Balochistan province.

In a statement, the military identified the slain personnel as Major Tausif Ahmed Bhatti and soldiers Fida Hussain, Zakir Hussain, Sohail Ahmed, and Mohammad Ayaz.

According to the statement, the soldiers were killed during a “search and clearance operation” against militants in the Nosham area of Barkhan district in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, several Pakistani activists say the country’s internal security situation has deteriorated in recent months, with security-related incidents increasing steadily and, according to them, moving beyond the military’s control.
