Afghan and Iranian officials discuss economic, trade and migration issues

KABUL: Mawlavi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, the acting ambassador of the Islamic Emirate in Iran, met with Mohammad Reza Bahrami, the Deputy Minister and Director-General for South Asia at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Afghan embassy in a statement said on Wednesday, that the two sides discussed economic and trade issues, the Herat–Mazar-i-Sharif railway project, and the challenges faced by Afghan migrants living in Iran.

The statement also said that the officials discussed and exchanged views on several internal matters related to the Afghan embassy in Tehran.

It is also noted that the Iranian government is working to invest in the construction of the railway linking the provinces of Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif.
