KABUL: The United States Central Command said it carried out what it described as a “defensive operation” targeting rocket launch sites and Iranian vessels in the Persian Gulf.
According to Fox News, a spokesperson for CENTCOM said the strikes were conducted in self-defense to protect U.S. forces from threats posed by Iranian forces.
The report said the targets included rocket-launch facilities and Iranian ships that, according to U.S. officials, were attempting to conduct mine-laying operations in the Gulf region.
Iranian authorities have not yet officially commented on the reported attacks.
