Iran says it supports efforts to reduce tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan

KABUL: Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan are a matter of concern for Iran and that Tehran is ready to support any effort aimed at easing hostilities between the two neighboring countries.
Speaking in response to a question from reporters, Baghaei said: “We are currently focused on ending conflicts in the region, and tensions among neighboring states are important for Tehran. We will not hesitate to take any step that can help reduce tensions and hostility between Afghanistan and Pakistan.”
Baghaei also noted that Iran has repeatedly conveyed this position clearly to both sides.
