U.S.: Military strikes on Iran will resume if no agreement is reached

KABUL: The U.S. Secretary of Defense has said that if ongoing talks with Iran fail to produce results, Washington is prepared to resume its military strikes against the country.

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, he said the United States has sufficient military equipment and ammunition to restart operations and remains capable of launching strikes at any time.

He stressed that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are still ongoing, but several key disagreements between the two sides remain unresolved.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said he is seeking an agreement that would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and bring the current conflict to a permanent end.

The remarks come as diplomatic efforts to end the confrontation between the United States and Iran continue, although significant differences remain over major issues.
