KABUL: Donald Trump, President of the United States has said that productive discussions with Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah have increased hopes for maintaining a ceasefire in Lebanon.
According to reports, Trump said Netanyahu agreed not to deploy Israeli forces into Beirut and that troops previously prepared for operations had been recalled. He added that communication had also been established with Hezbollah through mediators, and the group had pledged not to launch attacks against Israel.
Reports further indicate that Hezbollah conveyed a message to the United States through Nabih Berri, stating that if Israel halts strikes on Beirut and surrounding areas, the group will suspend its attacks on northern Israel.
Despite these developments, Iranian state media have warned that the fragile ceasefire could collapse if military operations in Lebanon continue.
The conflict in Lebanon has heightened regional tensions, affected thousands of people, and prompted ongoing international efforts to end the violence along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
