Over 3,400 Afghan returnees enter Afghanistan in a single day

KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Refugee Issues has said in a statement that 639 Afghan refugee families, comprising 3,448 individuals, were forcibly returned to the country through various border crossings in a single day.

According to the statement, the largest number of returnees entered Afghanistan via the Torkham border crossing, where 539 families, totaling 2,994 individuals, arrived.

The transportation and relocation committees assisted 583 families, comprising 3,289 people, in traveling to different provinces and provided financial support to cover transportation expenses, according to the statement.

In addition, cash assistance was distributed to 576 families, while 652 SIM cards were provided to returnees to help improve access to communication services, said the statement, adding that healthcare, food assistance, and public awareness services will continue to be provided to returnees regularly.
