KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has said that an agreement is expected to be signed with Iran on Sunday, after which the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened to all countries.
In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump stated that if the situation remains peaceful, the United States will remove Iran’s nuclear materials and launch a new phase of long-term cooperation with Iran and other countries in the Middle East.
He added that he hopes the process will be completed quickly and smoothly but warned that the United States has other options if a peaceful solution fails to deliver results.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that a peace agreement between the United States and Iran is closer than ever, expressing hope that the final stage of negotiations could be completed within the next 24 hours.
