First high-level U.S.-Iran negotiations end in Switzerland with ‘positive’ progress

KABUL: Qatar and Pakistan have issued a joint statement announcing that the first round of high-level negotiations between the United States and Iran, held in Switzerland, concluded in a “positive and constructive” atmosphere.
According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, the joint statement said: “The talks resulted in progress, including the development of a roadmap for continuing technical negotiations”
The statement added that the parties agreed to establish a high-level committee to oversee the negotiation process and finalize a roadmap aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement within 60 days.
It also noted that technical discussions on Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions, and mechanisms for resolving outstanding disputes will continue in the coming weeks.
