KABUL: The Economic Commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, approved a proposal on Sunday to construct a seven-story commercial market in Taloqan, the capital of Takhar province, with an investment of 110 million Afghanis.
According to a statement issued by the Economic Commission, the meeting also reviewed guidelines for implementing tax and customs exemptions to encourage and attract new domestic and foreign investments.
Under the commission’s decision, the designated committee has been tasked with holding technical meetings to finalize the proposed guidelines and present the completed version at the next session of the Economic Commission.
Officials stated that the project is expected to create employment opportunities for dozens of people upon completion.
The meeting also reviewed reports on several pending issues and issued necessary directives to the relevant institutions.
