KABUL: Representatives of Turkey’s NKY company have expressed interest in investing in Afghanistan’s electricity sector, including the rehabilitation of power generation facilities and waste-to-energy projects.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, the Chief Executive Officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat ( DABS), the country’s main power utility company.
During the meeting, Hamkar assured Turkish investors that Afghanistan offers favorable opportunities and necessary facilities for investment in the electricity sector and other infrastructure projects.
Hakan Bos, Deputy Director of NKY, stated that the company has invested in electricity generation and renewable energy projects in around 20 countries and is now interested in investing in Afghanistan’s power infrastructure, particularly in the rehabilitation of electricity production facilities and the development of waste-to-energy projects.
The proposed investments are expected to strengthen Afghanistan’s energy sector and expand access to sustainable electricity generation.
