Afghanistan’s five-year national power development plan approved

KABUL: The leadership of the Islamic Emirate has approved a five-year electricity development plan after it was endorsed by the Economic Commission chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the plan includes 25 power generation projects based on Afghanistan’s domestic energy resources, 13 ongoing and 23 new electricity transmission projects, 21 ongoing and 21 new substation projects, as well as 34 new electricity distribution projects.

Officials said the implementation of these projects will increase the country’s energy capacity, improve electricity generation and distribution, and reduce Afghanistan’s dependence on imported power.

The plan is aimed at expanding the country’s energy infrastructure, making greater use of domestic resources, and ensuring a more reliable electricity supply for citizens and key sectors of the economy.
