U.S. Defense Secretary to visit Israel for the first time

KABUL: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to travel to Israel on Wednesday for his first official visit to the country, CNN reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, Hegseth is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to discuss regional security and bilateral defense cooperation.

CNN added that it remains unclear whether the itinerary will be affected by the recent U.S. strikes on Iran.

The report also said that one of the key objectives of the visit is to address Israeli concerns over the potential sale of advanced F-35 stealth fighter jets to Türkiye.
