KABUL: Graham Plattner, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate seat from the state of Maine, has suspended his election campaign after a woman accused him of sexual misconduct, and he came under increasing pressure from senior leaders and members of his party.
Plattner has denied the allegations but said he decided to suspend his campaign to avoid affecting the Democratic Party’s election efforts.
According to The New York Times, Democratic Party leaders in Maine are now preparing to select a replacement candidate.
