KABUL: India has rejected a U.S. proposal to reach a fast-track trade agreement during the latest round of bilateral trade negotiations, opting instead to pursue more favorable terms to protect its national interests.
According to Reuters, the Indian government has entered the talks with greater confidence, supported by efforts to diversify its trading partners, reduce economic risks, and strengthen its domestic political position.
The United States and India have been negotiating for several months to expand trade ties and lower tariffs. However, differences over market access, agricultural products, and customs duties remain the main obstacles to reaching a comprehensive agreement.
