Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan agree to establish trilateral land transport corridor

KABUL: The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said in a statement that Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan have agreed to establish a trilateral land transport corridor aimed at enhancing regional transit and trade.

According to the ministry, Yar Mohammad Ramazan, Director of Land Transport Laws and Treaties, led an Afghan delegation to a trilateral meeting held in Mashhad, Iran, with representatives from Iran and Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the three sides discussed expanding land transport and transit cooperation, strengthening trade relations, and addressing other issues of mutual interest.

At the meeting, the participants agreed to establish the trilateral land transport corridor to facilitate regional transit and create greater trade opportunities.

Under the agreement, commercial goods from Iran and Tajikistan are expected to be transported to other countries through Afghanistan, allowing the country to make more effective use of its strategic transit position.

The initiative is expected to strengthen regional economic cooperation, expand trade and transit activities, and reinforce Afghanistan’s role as a key regional transit hub.
