KABUL: Iranian media have reported that Iran launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan early Wednesday, July 29, amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, without identifying the targeted base, said the attack was carried out during the early hours of Wednesday. The outlet also rejected reports that the missiles had been intercepted by U.S. forces.
However, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had intercepted all the missiles launched toward American forces in Jordan and that no casualties or damage had been reported. Other international reports also said the attack targeted a U.S. military facility in Jordan and that the missiles were intercepted.
The incident came after several days of reduced direct hostilities between Iran and the United States. It remains unclear how the latest attack may affect diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and resuming negotiations between the two sides.
