KABUL: Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is close to reaching a final agreement with Oman on establishing new maritime routes for shipping between the two countries through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, he stressed that the reopening of the strategic waterway would also require the United States to meet certain conditions.
According to Araghchi, Washington must lift sanctions imposed on Iran, end military threats, and agree to compensate for the damage caused.
He warned that without meeting these conditions, there would be no progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Under the emerging agreement, Iran and Oman are working to establish and organize new maritime routes for shipping between the two countries through the strait.
