Mohsen Rezaei appointed secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council

KABUL: Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s leader, has appointed Mohsen Rezaei, the former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

According to Iranian state media, Rezaei will also serve as the leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council.

The position was previously held by Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr following the death of Ali Larijani.

Mohsen Rezaei is a former IRGC commander and a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council. He also served as one of Iran’s military commanders during the Iran-Iraq War.
