KABUL: Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, has said that since the Islamic Emirate returned to power, Afghanistan has seen improvements in security and the creation of facilities that, in his view, Afghans had not experienced in recent decades.
Speaking at a ceremony marking Afghanistan’s Independence Day at the Loya Jirga Hall, Hanafi said the cultivation, trafficking and trade of narcotics across the country had been eliminated or reduced to nearly zero.
He claimed that around three million people struggling with drug addiction, including one million women, had been gathered for treatment and provided with vocational training alongside medical care.
Hanafi also said that 12 billion Afghanis are allocated annually to the families of those martyred and people with disabilities, adding that there is no difference between the martyrs of the Islamic Emirate and other people.
He cited major national projects, including the TAPI gas pipeline, Qosh Tepa Canal, CASA-1000, railway projects, road construction, telecommunications infrastructure, check dams and reservoirs, saying that work on these projects is progressing rapidly.
Hanafi further claimed that more than eight million Afghan refugees had returned to Afghanistan from neighboring countries and that necessary facilities had been provided for their reintegration.
