KABUL: The death toll from the capsizing of a passenger boat on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe has risen to 68, including 18 children, authorities said.
Officials said the boat was carrying more passengers than its designated capacity of 90 people, with the actual number of passengers believed to have been higher.
At least 77 people have been rescued, while search and rescue operations are continuing for others who may still be missing.
Lake Kariba lies along the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia and serves as an important means of transport for remote rural communities and fishing populations in the region.
