KABUL: Gulf Arab states are increasingly frustrated with U.S. President Donald Trump’s approach to diplomacy aimed at ending the war with Iran, according to The Washington Post, citing Arab and Western officials.
Officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain have expressed shared concerns about Washington’s ability to conduct effective diplomacy and secure a lasting agreement with Tehran.
The concerns come as missile and drone attacks linked to Iran and its allied groups continue, while diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled. Recent U.S.-Iran talks aimed at reviving an interim peace agreement have reportedly made no progress.
Gulf countries are also increasingly concerned that the conflict could further expand and threaten their security, economies, and energy supplies, particularly amid continued tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas shipments.
The reported frustration also points to growing questions among Washington’s traditional Gulf allies about the effectiveness of U.S. diplomacy and the future of regional security cooperation.
