Afghan capital should be invested within the country, official

KABUL: Sayed Karim Hashemi, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, says Afghan capital should be circulated within the country and invested in major economic, production, and infrastructure projects to strengthen the national economy.

He made the remarks during a ceremony marking the signing of an agreement to establish and operate a joint-stock company, adding that the initiative aims to stimulate economic activity, strengthen the economy, increase production capacity and exports, and expand investment opportunities.

He stressed that Afghanistan’s economic growth requires collective efforts and joint solutions to existing economic challenges.

Hashemi called on domestic investors and Afghans living abroad to cooperate with the joint-stock company and participate in major economic projects across the country.

Efforts are underway to create new investment opportunities in Afghanistan and he urged Afghans not to rely solely on foreign investors. Instead, he called for joint investment to support domestic production and invest in sectors that meet people’s needs.

Hashemi also emphasized the effective use of domestic capital to create economic opportunities, expand local production and increase Afghanistan’s export capacity.
