Syria condemns Israeli drone strike near Damascus as a violation of sovereignty

KABUL: Syria’s Foreign Ministry says Israel carried out a drone strike on a civilian vehicle near the town of Beit Jinn, west of the capital Damascus, injuring at least one person.

The Syrian government described the attack as a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that Israel would be responsible for the consequences of such actions.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it had targeted an individual in southern Syria who was allegedly engaged in activities posing an immediate threat to Israeli forces.

The strike comes amid rising tensions between Syria and Israel in recent days. Israel also reportedly targeted the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northwestern Syria on August 18.
