KABUL: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says the routes of 94 commercial vessels have been changed as part of an ongoing naval blockade of Iran.
CENTCOM said on Tuesday morning, in a post on X that the naval blockade of Iran is continuing with increased intensity.
According to the command, U.S. forces have rerouted 94 commercial vessels, prevented three other ships from operating, and inspected two vessels to ensure compliance with the naval blockade.
The development comes as tensions and clashes between U.S. and Iranian forces have intensified in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days.
Iran has previously said that Tehran would regard continued U.S. enforcement of the naval blockade as a continuation of the war.
The escalating tensions have raised concerns about a broader conflict and its potential impact on the global economy, particularly energy markets and international shipping.
