Middle East war escalates as U.S., Iran exchange attacks

KABUL: Reuters reports that amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, U.S. forces have destroyed five Iranian oil tankers, while Iran has launched a ballistic missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan.

According to the report, Iran attacked in response to the U.S. destruction of the Iranian oil tankers.

Jordanian authorities said they intercepted 18 of the 20 missiles launched by Iran and that the attack caused no fatalities.

Meanwhile, Iran-aligned Houthi fighters have also attacked cities in southern Saudi Arabia and oil facilities in the country.

Saudi officials said 73 people were injured in the attacks and that fires broke out at some oil facilities.

The continued attacks have raised concerns about a further expansion of the conflict across the region, while global oil markets are facing the risk of potential disruptions to energy supplies.
