KABUL: French President Emmanuel Macron described U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that peace had been established in Gaza as a “shameful display” in his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Agence France-Presse reported that Macron said in New York on Tuesday that despite the announcement of peace in Gaza, not a single humanitarian crossing had been reopened in the territory.
Criticizing the situation in Gaza, Macron warned that the world’s credibility would be called into question if the international community remained passive.
Macron also described Israeli attacks in the West Bank as violations of human rights and said Hamas was not active in the area.
His remarks came after Trump had praised his Gaza peace plan and claimed that he had succeeded in establishing peace in the territory.
