KABUL: A tube manufacturing factory has begun operations for the first time in Afghanistan’s Herat province, following a $5 million investment in the province’s industrial park, local officials say.
According to a statement from the Herat governor’s office, the factory produces tubes for motorcycles, bicycles and other small vehicles.
During its trial phase, it has the capacity to produce 10,000 tubes per day.
Factory officials said one production unit is currently operational and the capacity is expected to increase as the remaining units are completed and new machinery is installed.
The factory is expected to create employment opportunities for around 500 people.
