U.S. federal court temporarily halt plan to deport Afghan migrants to Afghanistan

KABUL: A federal court in the United States has temporarily halted the Trump administration’s plan to transfer a group of Afghan migrants through Pakistan to Afghanistan.
U.S. media reported that Valerie Caproni, a federal judge in New York, issued the ruling on November 3, suspending the plan until Saturday.
AfghanEvac has also announced the postponement of the migrants’ transfer flight, while stressing that the decision does not amount to a complete cancellation of the plan.
According to AfghanEvac and Human Rights First, more than 80 detained Afghans have contacted the organisations over concerns about possible deportation.
