KABUL: Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Iran’s parliament speaker, has warned the U.S. government against continuing its alleged warmongering policies following the results of the U.S. midterm elections.
According to Iranian media reports, Qalibaf said Americans had rejected war, either out of opposition to military conflict or because of economic pressures, adding that Iran supported this message.
He warned that if the U.S. government acted against the wishes of its own people and, as he put it, served “international masters and extortionists,” Iran’s response would turn into a “nightmare” for Washington.
Qalibaf made the remarks in an apparent reaction to the U.S. election results in a post on the social media platform X.
