KABUL: On the occasion of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, in a message today, called on the citizens of the country and individuals with financial capabilities to support the activities of the Red Crescent Society, Arg said in a statement.
Today Saur 19 (Wednesday, May 8, 2024) coincides with World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day and celebrates local to global humanitarian action.
The people of Afghanistan, after enduring nearly four and a half decades of war and insecurity, are in greater need of humanitarian assistance than ever before, said the message.
Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the activities of humanitarian organizations in the country.
The Prime Minister said: “Relief organizations have a responsibility to assist the people of Afghanistan in various sectors, including healthcare, economy, development projects, and other areas.”
He added that the Islamic Emirate is committed to creating a secure environment for the operation of humanitarian organizations in the country.
“Supporting the Afghan Red Crescent Society is, in fact, supporting the poor, needy, and destitute individuals of the country, and it is the responsibility of everyone,” he said.
According to the global calendar, the 8th of May is designated as World Red Crescent Day, honoring humanitarian activities worldwide.
