KABUL: As many as 2 million passports have been distributed in the country, in the 1402 fiscal year, the General Director of Passport said in a press conference today.
Addressing a press conference in Kabul, the Interior Ministry’s director of the passport department, Mawlavi Abdul Karim Hasib, said that three new passport branches will be inaugurated on Wednesday, July 17, in Kabul. The facilities are located in Darul Aman, Qala-e Zaman Khan and Tangi Tarakhel areas, and each will provide services for 2,000 applicants daily.
He added that about one and a half million people have applied for the passport in the past, and 99 percent of them have received appointments.
He further said that the capacity of distributing passports in the capital and provinces has increased to 12,000 on a daily basis, which is the highest amount in the history of the Passport Department.
