Mullah Baradar discusses bilateral political relations, commencement of practical work on TAPI with Turkmen Foreign Minister

KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, held a video conference with Khawaja Awadov, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, his office said in a statement today.

According to the statement, the two sides discussed bilateral political relations, economic and trade cooperation, the commencement of practical work on the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) project within Afghanistan, the expansion of the Torghundi railway line in Herat province, and the facilitation of transportation and transit.

“Afghanistan and Turkmenistan have good political and economic relations that should be expanded and used effectively,” the statement quoted Mullah Baradar as saying.

According to the statement, the Turkmen Foreign Minister said that his country will soon begin practical work on the TAPI project in Afghanistan to expand relations with Afghanistan.

He said his country will also invest in the electricity and railway sectors in Afghanistan.
