UN Security Council holds meeting on recent explosions in Lebanon

KABUL: Following a series of explosions targeting Hezbollah’s communication facilities in Lebanon, the UN Security Council held a meeting on Friday to assess the situation.

The UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo stated that the security and stability risks facing Lebanon, the Israeli regime, and the region are greater than ever.

“The possibility of expanding violence is high in the region,” said DiCarlo and called on all parties involved, including Lebanon, to restrain continence.

She also urged influential countries regarding Lebanon and the Israeli regime to do everything they can to prevent further escalation of tensions.

It should be said that during the past week, thousands were injured as a result of two series of explosions targeting Hezbollah’s communication facilities.
