KABUL: The Ministry of Finance says that the mobile surveillance staff of the General Department of Customs have seized a large amount of contraband items in Nimroz, Kandahar, Farah, Nangarhar and Helmand provinces during the past week.
According to the ministry, the seized items include 14,927 kg of flour, 6,979 kg of chocolate, 5,450 kg of salt, and 2,079 kg of medicine.
Also, the received items included 1,200 kg of tangerine, 1,488 kg of raw peas, 306 kg of sewing machine oil, 161.5 kg of saffron, and some other items.
The goods and accused persons have been handed over to the relevant customs for preliminary investigations.
