IEA Supreme Leader exempts electricity costs for mosques countrywide

KABUL: The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Shaikh-ul-Hadith Mawlavi Hebatullah Akhundzada, in a decree exempt the country’s mosques from paying electricity bills, Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, the IEA’s spokesman said in a statement on his X page on Wednesday.

“Emirati institutions should not ask mosques to pay for electricity,” he said, ordering the relevant institutions to monitor mosques to prevent misuse of electricity.

This is the first time in the country that mosques are exempt from electricity bills.
