KABUL: The Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriations Khalil-ur Rahman Haqqani, said that the United Nations should focus more on migrants by controlling administrative costs, the ministry said in a statement.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Erfan Jamal, the new head of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
According to the statement, Jamal considered greater coordination and useful methods as priorities for the UN Refugee Affairs section during the meeting.
“To address the problems of migrants, the necessary coordination must be made with the host countries of the migrants,” he said and emphasized the provision of educational, health, and other programs for returning migrants, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, migrants from Iran and Pakistan are being forcibly deported and returned to the country every day.
