KABUL: The Deputy Minister of Railways of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, met with the special representative of the President of Kazakhstan, Yerkin Tukumov, here in Kabul.
According to the ministry spokesperson, Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, both sides discussed enhancing economic, trade, and social cooperation, as well as important projects connecting Central and South Asia through Afghanistan.
He stated that Kazakhstan has proposed an agreement for an investment of $500 million for the reconstruction of the Herat-Torghundi and Herat-Kandahar railway lines, and both countries are currently working on finalizing the framework agreement.
According to him, it was decided to hold a joint meeting soon involving the ministers and deputy ministers of transport and railways from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and the United Arab Emirates to explore the implementation of both railway routes.
