KABUL: Jeffrey Greico, President of the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, met with Sayed Karim Hashimi, the General Director of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment said in a statement on Friday night that the discussions focused on the challenges facing Afghanistan’s banking sector, particularly regarding the transfer of funds for Afghan traders and the utilization of the Chabahar port.
It was emphasized that using this port, in cooperation with the United States and India, could create new transit and trade opportunities.
The statement noted that Mr. Hashimi highlighted new developments in collaboration between the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank with Afghanistan’s private sector, specifically in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
He suggested that assistance should be coordinated through the chamber to reach the needy entrepreneurs and genuine traders.
The President of the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce pledged to provide comprehensive support regarding the discussed topics.
This meeting comes at a time when Afghanistan’s trade relations with various countries are expanding.
