Reconstructed irrigation canal brings water access to 12,000 residents in Paktia

KABUL: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has reported that, with the completion of the reconstruction of a 2.5-kilometer irrigation canal in Paktia province, access to water has been provided for 12,700 individuals.

The project was funded by the World Bank and reconstructed by the FAO, in the “Baldah” area of Paktia province.

In addition to providing access to water for these families, the project has also enabled the irrigation of 240 hectares of land.

The statement did not mention the cost of implementing this public benefit project.

Ensuring access to drinking and agricultural water and regulating water use on farms to prevent wastage is considered one of the key objectives for communities in Afghanistan.
