KABUL: Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, during a recent phone call with Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan said Tehran will not engage in “imposed negotiations” under pressure, threats, or blockade.
According to Iran’s presidential office, Pezeshkian stressed that rebuilding trust between Tehran and the United States would not be possible unless “hostile actions” are halted.
“As long as operational pressures and hostile measures by the United States continue, progress toward dialogue will face serious obstacles,” he said.
The two leaders discussed the latest political and security developments, the status of the ceasefire, and ongoing diplomatic initiatives being pursued in Islamabad.
Pezeshkian emphasized that for negotiations with Washington to move forward, the U.S. must first remove key obstacles, including the naval blockade on Iran.
Sharif, in turn, assured that Islamabad would use all available means to facilitate dialogue and help achieve a “dignified and sustainable” outcome.
Iranian officials have previously declined to participate in planned talks with U.S. representatives, citing what they describe as continued pressure and threats under the guise of a naval blockade.
