KABUL: Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has sharply criticized the Pakistani military, saying that the people of the province have become victims of the army’s security policies.
According to Afridi, if the military’s objective is to secure financial benefits or implement new strategic programs, the cost should not be borne by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not a testing laboratory, and its people are not so insignificant that they should be sacrificed for the implementation of new policies or used to serve the interests of others,” he said.
His remarks come amid longstanding concerns over military operations carried out by the Pakistani army in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children.
