KABUL: Afghanistan’s private sector and businesses from Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya province in Kabul, signed twenty trade agreements worth $267 million.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce said the agreements were signed during a joint meeting between representatives of Kashkadarya’s business community and Afghan investors. The deals cover food products, textiles, construction materials, livestock, electrical equipment, furniture and related sectors.
Mawlavi Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, said Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have significant potential to expand economic and trade cooperation beyond their neighboring ties. He added that bilateral trade has increased following reciprocal visits by delegations from the two countries.
Zahid called for the facilitation of trade and transit procedures and the removal of existing barriers, saying Afghanistan is ready to discuss the transit of its export goods through Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, Shuxrat Kaxarovich Muratov, Deputy Governor of Kashkadarya, invited Afghan traders to visit the province and said Kashkadarya is prepared to facilitate the transportation and export of Afghan goods to Uzbekistan and other countries.
