KABUL: At least 20 people were injured after a large-scale Russian airstrike targeted Kyiv, with the attack also causing a fire at the historic Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery complex.
Ukrainian officials said the strike hit several areas of the capital, causing damage to civilian infrastructure and affecting one of the country’s most significant religious and cultural landmarks.
The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a symbol of Ukraine’s spiritual and historical heritage, reportedly suffered damage to parts as a result of the fire.
Authorities have urged residents to follow air-raid warnings and move to safe locations amid concerns over possible further attacks.
The strike comes as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, with military operations ongoing on multiple fronts.
