KABUL: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed “until further notice and until the end of U.S. intervention,” adding that no vessels will be allowed to transit the strategic waterway.
In a statement, the IRGC said several ships, allegedly “encouraged by foreign powers,” attempted to use an “unauthorized route” and ignored warnings to change course, and one of the vessels was stopped with “warning fire.”
Iran also warned that if the United States or its allies use the incident as a pretext for further military action, they would face a “severe response,” adding that additional military bases in the region would be targeted.
