KABUL: Jeffrey Greco, head of the Afghanistan-American Joint Chamber of Commerce, says efforts are underway to strengthen economic stability, increase investment, and encourage Afghan-American investors to invest in Afghanistan.
Greco said U.S. investors are interested in Afghanistan’s oil and gas, mining, and textile sectors, but human rights-related restrictions remain among the major obstacles to foreign investment.
He added that he has discussed these restrictions with officials of the Islamic Emirate.
Greco also said the U.S. government continues to provide assistance and support operations in Afghanistan through United Nations agencies, particularly the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
