KABUL: António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks, has said that any form of ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip must be prevented.
He made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting held at the UN on the rights of the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Guterres emphasized the importance of adhering to international law and called for governmental solutions regarding Gaza and its inhabitants.
“Any solutions sought for Gaza should not exacerbate the existing problems or worsen the current situation,” he said.
It appears that the UN Secretary-General found Donald Trump’s recent comments about Gaza and its residents unacceptable.
Trump had suggested that nearly 2 million residents of Gaza should leave their ancestral homes, with the area being occupied by the U.S.
These remarks by Trump have faced widespread opposition globally.
