KABUL: Following the conclusion of the first phase of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. representative in the Middle East, has proposed extending this phase until after the Ramadan Eid, Zionist PM’s office said in a statement on Sunday.
In response to the end of the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza, Hamas rejected Israel’s proposal to extend this phase, although it has not yet commented on the U.S. representative’s suggestion.
Hazem Qassem, a spokesperson for Hamas, stated yesterday that the movement does not agree with Israel’s approach to extending the first phase of the ceasefire.
According to the Zionist Regime, if the first phase of the ceasefire is extended, half of the remaining prisoners held by Hamas, both living and deceased, would be released on the first day.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether the U.S. representative’s proposal for extending the initial ceasefire will be implemented or not.
