BRICS Summit condemns Israeli attacks on Iran and Gaza

KABUL: Leaders of the BRICS countries have condemned Israeli attacks on Iran and Gaza, according to Reuters, the summit, hosted by Brazil, concluded today.
In a joint statement, the BRICS leaders called for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, expressed serious concerns regarding tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, and condemned the joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.
The BRICS members also called for reforms of global institutions, referring to them as a refuge for multilateral diplomacy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the BRICS meeting via online conference.
This year’s BRICS summit took place amid tensions within the G7 and G20, overshadowed by internal disagreements and U.S. tariffs on member nations.
Notably, Indonesia was welcomed as a new member of BRICS, which represents developing countries comprising half of the global population and 40% of global GDP.
